Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month From El Barrio To Flushing Town Hall
Published September 18, 2008

A month-long series of events celebrates Hispanic culture, history and music with performances by Papo Vasquez, John Benitez and Steve Kroon's Latin Jazz Sextet.

Flushing Town Hall launches its new month-long Hispanic Heritage Festival.
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

In this inaugural year, the Hispanic Heritage Festival will feature Papo Vazquez, Aurora y Zon Del Barrio, and John Benitez. Related programs will include a jazz performance by Steve Kroon and classical performance by Cuartetango. In order to offer educational opportunities for children and families, the festival will feature the Ballet Hispanico School Ensemble in participatory workshops, a school group performance, and a family performance.
