Thomas Mapfumo <http://www.myspace.com/thomasmapfumoandtheblacksunlimited>, the "Lion of Zimbabwe," and The Blacks Unlimited will join an already astonishing roster, headed by Latin-Grammy winning Mexican-American diva Lila Downs
<http://www.liladowns.com/>  and Malian desert-blues guitar scion Vieux Farka Toure <http://www.vieuxfarkatoure.com/>. Mapfumo—who once served prison time in Zimbabwe for his anti-government lyrics—has created his own style of music, chimurenga (struggle) with a beautifully hypnotic sound.

Previously confirmed artist Kanda Bongo Man has cancelled his American tour and will not appear at the festival.

17 acts from five continents will showcase top international music artists on three seperate stages, from traditional artists to groundbreaking acts, with a strong line-up of Native American, Latin American and Hispanic artists including two-time Grammy winner Mary Youngblood (Seminole/Aleut).

¡Globalquerque! takes place at Albuquerque's stunning National Hispanic Cultural Center <http://www.nhccnm.org/>, nestled along the Rio Grande River. The Global Village of Craft, Culture & Cuisine will be bursting with exceptional vendors, and popular free family-friendly day programming on Saturday provides an array of fun, educational activities from instrument building to international dance lessons, puppetry to music workshops and more.

"In four short years, ¡Globalquerque! has become one of the top world-music festivals in the American Southwest, bringing in big names and rising world stars from across the musical spectrum," writes Gerald Gay in the Arizona Daily Star <http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/244535> . The Los Angeles Times
