New York Benefit Concert For China

On June 15, an array of downtown artists will present a New York benefit concert for China’s earthquake relief. Artists will Include Maya Beiser, Philippa Thompson and Shakey Dave Pollack of the M Shanghai String Band.

A New York benefit concert for China’s earthquake relief will take place on June 15 at the Church of the Ascension. Making appearances will be the likes of Maya Beiser, Philippa Thompson and Shakey Dave Pollack of the M Shanghai String Band, Ken Thomson, Derek Bermel, Marya Martin, Eve Beglarian, Kevork Mourad, Ning Yu and NYPO violinist Duoming Ba, Huang Ruo, NYPO cellist Tu Qiang, Margaret Leng Tan, and Children Singers from the Third Street Music School Settlement.

 

Unique performances include that of Maya Beiser, who will be performing music by composer Tan Dun flautist Marya Martin performing Eve Beglarian¹s I will not be sad in this world with Kevork Mourad (a visual artist from the Silk Road project) pianist Ning Yu with New York Philharmonic Orchestra violinist Duoming Ba and composer Huang Ruo performing his piece for cello and piano with NYPO cellist Tu Qiang. A reception for audience members will follow with a performance by Andrew Chow and his Jazz Ensemble.
