Nana Mouskouri In New York

In an unusual move, Philips has reissued Nana Mouskouri In New York (adding three unreleased tunes), originally produced by Quincy Jones in 1962, in tandem with a new recording, Nana Swings, recorded in 2002 The two albums share a number of tracks in common, which, of course, invites comparison between Mouskouri 40 years ago and her more recent live performance. Of the two albums, the real prize here is the New York record, which captures Mouskouri's voice blossoming. She sings with ease and terrific clarity, and her upper register has the brightness and colors of a well-tuned bell.
