Peter Simon: Special Slide Show And Book Signing Feb. 29 At B & N Tribeca

Simon's slide show will feature rare images from his private collection, to which he will provide commentary. Following the presentation he will sign copies of his new Reggae Scrapbook.

Award-winning photojournalist and author, Peter Simon will present a slide show and sign his new book, Reggae Scrapbookon Friday, February 29, 2008 at Barnes & Noble/Tribeca (97 Warren Street, New York 212-587-5389).

Simon will show slides from his private collection of over 200 rare images taken over 30 years of documenting reggae music. From the earliest days of the reggae music explosion to present time, Simon has been one of the genres biggest fans and has spent time with greats including Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Toots Maytal and others. He will narrate the slides with commentary about his many trips to Jamaica which began in 1976 and take questions. He will sign copies of Reggae Scrapbook following the presentation.

Reggae Scrapbook (Insight Editions) co-written by Roger Steffans and Peter Simon is a full-color extravaganza of the alternative musical and social reality that is reggae, Jamaica's world-famous homegrown music. During his 40-year career, Peter Simon as documented rock’n’roll (his sister is Carly Simon), major league baseball, the scenic diversity of Martha’s Vineyard, and the world of reggae. His photography has been in many newspapers and magazines including Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, People, Village Voice, Atlantic Monthly and The New York Times.
