The Big Muddy Blues Festival is a free, two-day event that pays tribute to the American artform known as "the blues." Held in the Laclede's Landing entertainment district located along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, Big Muddy features national blues headliners and legends along with a host of popular St. Louis blues bands on four outdoor stages.

The 2005 edition of "Big Muddy," held on Laclede's Landing, will feature some of Johnnie Johnson favorite musicians and friends, including: Bo Diddley, Robert "Junior" Lockwood, Henry Townsend, Koko Taylor & Her Blues Machine, Hubert Sumlin, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, and Zambian A Cappella. Additional headliners and a complete schedule of all four Big Muddy Blues Festival stages will be announced SOON! As always, Big Muddy is FREE and open to all ages. Past headliners include Bobby "Blue" Bland, Mavis Staples, Fontella Bass, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Henry Townsend, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Hubert Sumlin, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, and Bob Margolin.
