Emeline Michel Captures Hearts With Her 9th Release, Reine de Coeur
Published November 16, 2007

Haiti’s singer songwriter Emeline Michel returns with new single “Gade Papi,”  new album Reine de Coeur, and a special performance at New York's SOB's.

Haiti’s singer songwriter Emeline Michel returns with a new single, “Gade Papi,” and a new album, Reine de Coeur (Queen of Hearts), her first album in four years. Over the past two decades, Emeline has blessed the world with grace, social consciousness, and above all, her enchanting voice. She remains one of the most entrancing performers to emerge from among the divas of the African diaspora, touring regularly in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa.

True to the style that Emeline has developed over the past 20 years, Reine de Coeur is a sophisticated presentation of Haitian rhythms and genres, from compass to twoubadou, informed by an international blend of idioms and timbres. “This album is a true reflection of life’s moments: love, hope, passion, pain and faith," says Emeline. "I wanted this album to be raw and real so that people from all over could relate. Much of the album was written in Africa and in Haiti. Though these two lands are thousands of miles apart, the rhythms and melodies of the two places truly serve as backdrops to the stories being told."

Emeline will wow New York audiences with a release performance of Reine de Coeur, produced under Emeline’s Cheval de Feu, on Sunday, Dec. 2, 6 PM at SOB's, located at 204 Varick St. at the corner of Houston. Fans will have the opportunity to hear the new songs, purchase the CD, and hear Emeline with her full touring band.
