The new Dubblestandart Album Are You Experienced borrows its title from the iconic Jimi Hendrix album, but the two discs share a title font and little more. The actual music is far removed from Hendrix’s immortal psychedelic rock. ’Dis is dub ’n’ reggae, mon. Disc 1 offers twelve brand new tracks featuring Noa More and Gudrun as well as the group’s longtime collaborator, Camel. Other guests join the brash ensemble as well. Disc 2 is comprised of previously unreleased versions or remixes from the group’s last two albums, representing the smokey world of dub music. Dubblestandart was founded in 1988 in far-from-tropical Austria by middle-class Europeans Paul Zasky, Robbie Ost, Martin Marek and Gerhard Warnung. Since getting together between the ages of 17 and 19, filled with teenage bravado and anti-establishment proclivities, the group’s embraced and continues to celebrate its rebellious image within the conservative Austrian pop scene.
