Mulatos Remix
Otá 1016

Cuban pianist and composer Omar Sosa’s sublime Mulatos combined the pianist’s unorthodox Latin jazz genius and resolutely grounded inspiration with the consummate artistry of saxophone/flute master Paquito D’Rivera. Having garnered Grammy and BBC Radio 3 nominations, Mulatos now assumes transmuted identity in a remarkable remix version. Sosa’s fascination with digital technology’s capacity to extend the boundaries of the expressive imagination is herein manifest. This project testifies to his creative generosity, an unusual capacity to step back and allow talent of a rather different kind (Doctor L , DJ Spinna, DJ Basephunk, Marque Gilmore, Steve Arguelles) have its own way with his sonic creations. Mulatos Remix gives broad rein to Sosa’s artistic philosophy, wherein creation is the divine manifestation of a quest for common musical grooves, best achieved through the improvisatory alchemy of collective engagement and mutual respect, a shared vision of, and commitment to, the very frontiers of humanitarian possibility.
