Tanto Tempo Remixes
Six Degrees

Bebel Gilberto, daughter of legendary Brazilian songwriter Joao Gilberto and Brazilian singer Miucha, burst onto the world-music scene last year with the lush and likable Tanto Tempo. Nominated for “Best New Artist” and “Best Musica Popular Brasileira Album” by the Latin Grammys, the album is still sitting high on the world-music charts. To expose Bebel to a wider audience, and sell some CDs while they are at it, Six Degrees has released Tanto Tempo Remixes, allowing some of the top electronica remixers to take her songs to a new place. These thirteen tracks include three remixes of “August Day Song” and two of “Sem Contencao” and the title track. But instead of being repetitious, this disc shows how well Bebel’s songs hold up, the creative work of the remixers, and the many different paths these songs, and Bebel, could have gone. Much like the Everything but the Girl remixes of a few years back, the melding of Bebel’s songs with electronica is seamless, making something new and exciting on its own. Unlike most remix collections, Tanto Tempo Remixes can stand by itself.
