Lake Effect
Green Linnet

Liz Carroll is considered one of the best Celtic fiddle players in the world. After a self-imposed 12-year hiatus to raise her family, Carroll returned with the award-winning 2000 release Lost In The Loop. Again co-producing with John Doyle, Liz has followed up that stunning disc with Lake Effect. She is one of the few musicians who captures in the studio the energy, passion and virtuosity of her live performances. Writing 25 of the 28 reels, slides, jigs and airs on this disc, she also shows off her great skills of creating new tunes that fit right in with, and will soon become, traditionals. The songs are arranged acoustically for three or four musicians and still fill the room with her joyous noise.  A highlight is the title track, with Carroll and the Turtle Island String Quartet. Arranged by violinist Evan Price, the tune balances Carroll’s bounce with the Quartet’s classical sensibilities, leaving you wanting more.
