Hanitra Rasoanaivo of Madagascar's Tarika Forms a New Band, Tarika B
Published February 1, 2008

Tarika's Hanitra hopes to record and tour with her new group this year.

An Open Letter from Hanitra of Tarika B

Dear music lovers and promoters,

It has been a while since you heard from us and that is because I was busy creating my new band “Tarika B”, writing new songs and performing on tour around the island.

I am now in the process of writing songs and recording samples of music for we would like to make a new album with the new band Tarika B!

The band has really benefited from touring all around Madagascar with Alliance Française after being chosen as the band of the “Découverte culturelle of 2005” and gained strength in tightness and in knowing how to work around one another.
We are on our top of confidence and pride for during the meeting of all Arts centres and music promoters of Africa in October 2005 in Nairobi, 18 countries voted for Tarika B to tour the Indian Ocean and African countries this year of  2006!

As it is still the beginning of the year and no real plan has been made, I would like to draw your attention on the fact that without a new record, this tour will be somehow wasted and with a new record, the band can be worldwide touring again.

Another positive point coming from my part is also the fact that since I have been based here at our Arts and Cultural Centre in Madagascar, I have had the possibilities to meet up and deal with lots of people involved in music and culture and its promotion.

I have created strong ties with our Ministry of Tourism and Culture and I have very good relationship with our town mayor who is very queen in working on developing music and culture of our area.

I have also kept in touch with all the cultural department of different foreign Embassies so that when it comes to visas and paper works for going abroad, it will be easier than before.

And the last but not least, I have had fantastic relationship with different talented musicians from within Madagascar and outside Madagascar because the Arts Centre’s main purpose is to become a real cultural exchange place for all people involved.

For those of you who know or had seen or heard of the project “VAKOKA” being created and produced from here at Antshow, I am now proposing that we would do the same for my new record. We create it here, produce it here and we master it abroad! We can also produce art work and photographs, and one last very good thing, we are now in the middle of editing a 26mn film of Tarika B touring around Madagascar, the film was taken by a local based American film company here in Madagascar called DDC (Digital Development Communications) and will be finally edited and worked out in New York for some parts was being filmed on 16mm that has to be developed in the states. It is a very good film!

That is it for now. We continue writing and rehearsing songs, finding out about costs and awaiting for interest in working with us. Please send us an email if your are at all interested in being involved in any aspects of the making of the new album and touring plan of Tarika B, the new world music beat from Madagascar!!

NEWS:
After collaboration with a US based latin Jazz band called Anette Aguilar & Stringbeans playing here in Madagascar, the US Embassy here in Antananarivo has just offered me a travel around the states for cultural development projects and I would take this opportunity to make appointments and meetings with you or anyone with potentials in letting this group progress further into our musical career!  Thank you and see you soon.
Best regards,

Hanitra of Tarika B
