Rita Marley Announces 'Africa Unite' Concert Set for Ghana in February

The event will feature concerts and educational events. Confirmed artists to date include the Marley Family, the I-Threes, Morgan Heritage and several local bands.

Rita Marley confirmed that the 61st Bob Marley 'Africa Unite' birthday celebration will take place in Ghana in February 3-6, 2006. Organized by the Rita Marley Foundation and the Bob Marley Foundation the event will feature concerts and educational events. Confirmed artists to date include the Marley Family, the I-Threes, Morgan Heritage and several local bands.

The first 'Africa Unite' concert kicked off in 2005 as part of Bob Marley's 60th Anniversary celebration and brought thousands of people from several countries. The theme, 'Africa Unite,' is inspired by Bob Marley's song featured on his 'Survival' album. The message behind the song and the goal of the 'Africa Unite' event is to unify all of Africa.
