VP Records Announces The Releases of Two New Collections In The Strictly The Best Series
Published November 3, 2006

Whether it's currently on the top the Jamaican charts, a huge underground seller on the streets, or the massive club jam sweeping the dancehalls, the Strictly The Best series provides the hottest catalog of dancehall/reggae music for the Winter and Spring Season. VP Records will release Strictly The Best 35 and 36 on November 21. The award winning compilation has become a highly anticipated release whose popularity has increased leaps and bounds year after year.  Following up after the Reggae Gold release, STB offers a more comprehensive collection of dancehall and roots sounds that have crossover potential and cater to the hard-core reggae fans alike.

Established in 1990, STB is the longest running reggae compilation series in the business. The annual series is divided into a 2 separately sold discs, providing cutting-edge dancehall hits on Volume 35 and the latest tunes in Roots and Lovers Rock on Volume 36. Each year, VP experts carefully strategize and compile a library of most exclusive dancehall/reggae tunes to keep the pace with the biggest Jamaican hits. Showcasing the most buzz-worthy and talented artists, STB series has been the proving ground for many of reggae's biggest stars, including Sean Paul, Richie Spice, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Capleton and many others.

STB 35 includes Coming tough on and off the dancefloor, T.O.K.'s "Bounce," Sean Paul's "All Out" with grittier lyrics and a slamming sound on this new tune over the Dem Time Deh Riddim.

The hottest dancehall artist on the scene, Tony Matterhorn, has won over the dancehalls, streets and mainstream airwaves with two singles currently on the charts. With a creative play on words and original hard-hitting vocals over the Gully Slime Riddim, Matterhorn's # 1 hit "Good As" remains at the top of the Jamaican dancehall charts.

Strictly The Best 36 includes Daville's "Always On My Mind," which has spent 6 weeks at the #1 spot on the Reggae Charts. Richie Spice's current chart-topper "Brown Skin" adds more spice and richness to the catalog of tributes made for the black woman's beauty and worth. With a sultry soulful voice that can make any woman melt, this legendary singjay provides meaninglful conscious lyrics even on his love songs. No one can express "Love and Affection," better than sweet sound of Wayne Wonder. For years this superstar has been producing multiple Lover's Rock hits that have reached crossover success and plans to expand on these triumphs with his new album expected in Spring 2007.
