Historically regarded as one of VP Records' top rivals, Greensleeves Records is set to merge with VP, pending the approval of the former's sharholders, Zest. Chris Chin and Randy Chin, respectively Chief Executive Officer and President of VP Records commented, "The label and its founders had a long term commitment to Reggae music and no one is better positioned than VP Records to understand the need to respect this legacy."
The folks at VP Records are especially excited about their accumulation of classic works such as Wayne Smith's "Sleng Teng" and Yellowman's "Mr. Yellowman", as well as some modern hits including Sean Paul's "Get Busy" and Wayne Wonder's "Bounce Along." VP Records is also home to such greats as Beres Hammond and Morgan Heritage.
VP Records is the world's leading reggae record company ontop of also being the fastest growing music publisher in the reggae and dancehall music genres. Olivier Chastan, Vice President of VP Records, asserted that with the addition of Greensleeves Records to their label, the reggae genre will be strengthened and preserved.
