The Quebec City Summer Festival To Host Some of Music’s Hottest Acts

The planners of The Quebec City Summer Festival have brought together an extraordinary lineup for their “Grands Événements Desjardins 2008” (2008 Desjardins Major Events). Artists like Mes Aïeux, Charles Aznavour, Lynda Lemay, Fergie, Yes and Linkin Park will take to the stage of the Scène Bell on the Plains of Abraham on different dates—this being their only show in Quebec this summer.

Mes Aïeux is a lively six-member Quebec born-and-bred “funklore” group which is currently at work composing and recording the songs for their next album. Lucky festival-goers will be given a sneak preview of some of their tunes. Aznavour has recorded no fewer than 44 albums – 786 unforgettable songs – in his illustrious career, and will have the honor of being the opening act. The “Duchess” of Pop/R&B;, Stacy Ferguson – alias Fergie – is widely known as having had been female singer behind the hip-hop Black Eyed Peas. Her solo career has soared thanks to hits like, “Fergalicious” and “Glamorous.” The British supergroup Yes busted charts in the 70s with such pieces as “Roundabout,” “I’ve Seen All Good People” and “Close To The Edge.” Lastly, Linkin Park is one of the leading bands of its generation. Practicing a form of musical hybridization involving nu-metal, rap and electronica, the group has garnered several major awards, including best band at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007.

Noted Mr. Jean Leclerc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Société du 400e anniversaire de Québec,“This event is the cornerstone of the celebrations surrounding the 400th anniversary of the founding of Québec City, and the Festival organization has skilfully met this challenge by providing a festive program of events geared to a large audience.”
