Six Degress Records Inks Deal With Fontana
Published December 4, 2006

Fontana, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, the world's leading music company, has signed an exclusive distribution deal with San Francisco-based Six Degrees Records, it was announced today by Steve Pritchitt, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fontana, and Pat Berry, President and label co-founder of Six Degrees.  As part of the agreement, Fontana will distribute Six Degrees' product in the US, including the label's extensive back catalog and upcoming new releases.

The label releases genre-bending, accessible recordings that explore world music, ambient, folk, contemporary classical and intelligent pop music. Through consistency of quality, distinctive visual presentation and creative and aggressive marketing, Six Degrees creates releases that stand out from the pack and offer a real alternative to consumers who are looking to discover new sounds from around the world.  Notable successes include Bebel Gilberto, Michael Franti & Spearhead, the Six Degrees Travel Series, and its partnership with Ziriguiboom/Crammed Discs.

"For nearly a decade, Six Degrees has provided music fans with a fresh perspective on traditional styles and sounds," stated Pritchitt. "As they continue to break new ground with their eclectic signings and dynamic releases, we will help them extend the reach of their brand and artists by taking full advantage of many distribution opportunities, from physical retail to mobile."

"We are thrilled to be working with Steve and the entire Fontana team," added Berry. "Their approach to the marketplace - providing the highest quality of sales, marketing, digital and backroom services - is second to none. And with our popular catalog and highly anticipated upcoming releases, we looked to partner with the best distribution company that can really step up to the plate and deliver."

In 2007, Six Degrees celebrates its 10-year anniversary with a slate of new releases including albums from Bebel Gilberto, Ojos de Brujo, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, CŽU, and the launch of the Six Degrees "Emerging Artists" series, dedicated to breaking new artists in a digital only format.
