Rounder Records to Release New Studio Album from Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas
Published February 27, 2006

On March 7, Rounder Records will proudly release Hang It High, Hang It Low - the new album from zydeco titans Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Cha’s. Now approaching his twentieth year as one of zydeco’s premier artists, Nathan Williams, Sr. and his tight, fiery backing band have traveled the world, introducing audiences everywhere to their infectious, dance-inducing version of Louisiana party music.

Featuring a road-tested six-man lineup (guitar, bass, drums, accordion, keys, and rubboard), Hang It High, Hang It Low is Nathan’s finest studio recording yet, perfectly balancing well-crafted songs, relentless zydeco grooves, and the hypnotic, lilting Caribbean rhythmic undercurrent that is Williams’ secret weapon. “It would be difficult to find a band that better makes use of roots music sources while crafting a personal sound,” says the album’s producer, Scott Billington. “Here’s music that shows how resilient and exciting a traditional style can be, and it’s more fun than just about anything you could hope to hear.”
