New Orleans indie label Basin Street Records looks forward to regain its footing in its first major success following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The woman of the hour, local Theresa Andersson, released her self-titled EP this spring and is currently touring storm-battered states in support of its success.
The label, which also released her 2004 studio album Shine, is just now back on its feet since the hurricane flooded its office and the home of the owner.
Best known for her contagious and radiant musical energy, Andersson has earned the reputation, and multiple awards, as Best Female Performer/Violin Player/Singer in New Orleans for the past 10 years – no small feat amidst the rich musical Diaspora of the Big Easy.
Having sat in with rock legends David Gilmour, Ronnie Wood and Brian May, in addition to the Neville Brothers and members of The Meters, today, Andersson is backed by an energetic four-piece band that consists of former members from the hipster rock band World Leader Pretend, and looks forward to recording a new full length CD with her current band.
