Tuesday August 28, live in Yonge-Dundas Square in the heart of Toronto, Eccodek's Andrew McPherson and resident beat master Deliveryboy will be performing an original soundtrack accompanying a screening of Fritz Lang's 1927 silent film classic Metropolis.
Patrick Carnegie, the Yonge-Dundas Square’s artistic director, commissioned Eccodek to create a contemporary soundtrack for the marquee presentation as part of the square’s City Cinema summer film series presented by Best Buy. Incorporating a rich musical tapestry of downtempo beats, electronica, jazz, dub, IDM and quite possibly a kitchen sink or two, the pair hope to translate the visionary film’s hypnotizing effect into sound.
The event is free and is set to run from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Crowd expectancy is set for close to 1,000 spectators.
