Darfur ASAP Album Raises $120,000 for Victims
Published September 22, 2005

New York, NY - The Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project (ASAP) has raised over $120,000 in aid money for the victims of ethnic violence in Darfur.

ASAP is a benefit compilation featuring the hottest new Afrobeat acts around the globe, alongside former Fela Kuti bandmates Kaleta, Dele Sosimi, Baba Olajagun, and a classic Tony Allen track with Fela himself.

The album hit #1 on the iTunes Music Store world charts and #24 overall, and the ASAP story has continued to generate an enthusiastic buzz in the national and international media. It has been praised by Pitchfork Media as "a phenomenal introduction to current Afropop" and was listed in Afropop Worldwide's Top 10 for 2004.  Milwaukee Magazine hails "the next generation of musicians that have inherited a way to move minds, hearts and bodies like a riptide. Buy it for everyone you know."

100% of proceeds from the album have been sent to groups working on the ground in Darfur refugee camps distributing food, water, and medicine to the hundreds of thousands who are in need.
