Bill Laswell Records Soundtrack For Direct-to-DVD Release Of Japanese Animated Film “Street Fighter Alpha: Generations”
Published December 7, 2005

About Street Fighter Alpha: Generations--DVD Available Now

Street Fighter Alpha: Generations reveals the truth of the legendary Street Fighter characters Akuma and Ken which was never explained in any video game or TV show for 20 years.

In this thrilling prequel to Street Fighter Alpha, Ryu returns to pay homage to his deceased mentor, but is tormented by disturbing memories of his master’s killer.  In a quest to become a true martial arts master, Ryu sets out to hone his street fighting skills and to deliver himself from the haunting legacy of the Dark Hadou.  But the ultimate test of his new power can only be accomplished through one last fateful confrontation with his arch-nemesis, Gouki.

Generations was created to give an insight to some of the answers to why the most intriguing and arcane character, Akuma (Gouki), became who he is. It also explores the history behind some of the Street Fighter characters and how the main character Ryu, is inadvertently linked to his arch nemesis Akuma (Gouki)” states co-producer, Kaoru Mfaume (Dead Leaves, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). Street Fighter Alpha: Generations DVD Bonus Features include: Behind the Scenes Interview with Cast & Directors, Production Report, Audio options of: English & Japanese Languages; English & Japanese 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and Motion Menus. The soundtrack was created by legendary musician and record producer, Bill Laswell.

Bill Laswell is a Grammy-winning electric bass player, producer and re-mixer. A universe unto himself, Laswell creates music from an unsanctified palette of whatever appeals to him—marginal instruments, new technology and iconoclastic written texts alongside established musical traditions from around the world. In 1983, Laswell stunned both jazz and popular music audiences with his production of Herbie Hancock’s “Future Shock,” bringing proto-turntablism to a mass audience for the first time ever. Before and since that landmark however, Laswell has worked with a stunning range of musicians and thinkers—among them, Laurie Andersen, Tony Williams, Mick Jagger, Sting, Carlos Santana, John Zorn, the Dalai Lama, Pharoah Sanders, Yoko Ono, John Lydon, Bootsy Collins, Buckethead, Brain, Bernie Worrell, Karsh Kale, Afrika Bambaataa, The Last Poets, Zakir Hussein, Shankar, Ustad Sultan Khan, Sonny Sharrock, Toshinori Kondo, Nona Hendrix, George Clinton, Whitney Houston, Bachir Attar, the Jungle Brothers, William Burroughs, Paul Bowles, Sly & Robbie and dozens more from the Americas, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and Japan. His willingness to take risks is unparalleled in the world of music--as is his ability to unite seemingly disparate voices.

Released by Manga Entertainment and Distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment Worldwide
