Arthurfest
September 4, 2005 - September 5, 2005
Los Angeles, California

YOKO ONO HAS BEEN ASKED TO HEADLINE ARTHURFEST! The stellar line-up includes headliners Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, The Black Keys, Cat Power, Spoon and Olivia Tremor Control, who will all perform on Labor Day Weekend. The festival, co-produced by Arthur magazine and Spaceland Productions, will take place Sept. 4 and 5 at the historic Barnsdall Art Park in the Los Feliz/Little Armenia area of Los Angeles.

Ono will be combining all elements of sound and vision that she has used throughout extensive multi-media career.  Ono has been credited with being one of the originators of conceptual art. Forms and materials serve only as vehicles for Ono’s art; her work resists categorization. Ono has also produced over 10 albums as a singer/songwriter of her own compositions. In 2003 she topped the Billboard club charts with Walking on Thin Ice and was #1 again in 2004 with Every Man/Every Woman. Arthurfest will also be screening two of ONO’s classic film shorts, "Apotheosis" (1970) and  "No. 5"  (aka "Smile") (1968).

In addition to the headliners other performers over the two-day event will be Dead Meadow, T-Model Ford, Merzbow, The Juan Maclean, Comets On Fire, Sunn0))), Six Organs of Admittance, Growing, Vetiver, Joesphine Foster, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Wolfmother, Circle, Earth, Radar Bros., Marissa Nadler, Jack Rose, Magik Markers, Future Pigeon, Lavender Diamond, Brad Laner, Nora Keyes, Viking Moses and Winter Flowers. More are still being added.

ArthurFest will also feature rare film screenings, a special appearance by the legendary Henry Jacobs (co-creator of the Vortex dome happenings in the '50s/'60s), food stands from neighborhood eateries, a special workshop led by the New Energy collective, an information booth featuring 82-year old bluesman T-Model Ford (the star of Arthur's T-Model Knows Better" advice column) and other attractions to be announced.

The Barnsdall Art Park is in walking distance of the Vermont Metro station. Hotel information is available at arthurmag.com. Parking will be available at the nearby Kaiser Hospital lot.

Additional Arthurfest festivities will be added Sept 1,2 & 3 to take place at the Vanguard Theatre, Echo and Spaceland.

Two-day passes for the event are now on sale for $70.00 through through ticketweb.com. One-day passes are $40.00.
