Music From China - Silk and Bamboo in Traditional and Contemporary Chinese Music with a focus on music from Southern China. The ensemble will demonstrate and perform selections from their repertoire of Jiangnan Sizhu, Cantonese music, Fujian Nanyin, and the music of living composers.

EastRiver Ensemble - Drawing inspiration from the teahouse atmosphere of "Old Society" China, EastRiver Ensemble presents a mixed repertoire of Maoist folk songs, gutsy northern theatrical formats, and playful, eclectic renditions of the New York immigrant experience.

Melody of Dragon - A musical introduction across the regions of China, with a special lecture by Chen Tao, director of Melody of Dragon and artistic director of the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York.

Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 6:00PM
Min Xiao Fen and her Blue Pipa Trio with special guest gaohu master Li Yang-Yi present musical improvisations and cross-cultural dialogue from Chinese traditions to jazz.
