As part of a six-night “Umbria Jazz at Birdland” Festival the great Italian trumpeter, Enrico Rava, will return to New York with his quintet for two nights at Birdland March 30th and 31st.
Also as part of this celebration of the most prestigious names in Italian Jazz, Stefano Bollani is stepping out with his own trio with Jesper Bodilsen & Morten Lund. Long mentored by Rava, Bollani appeared on both of the master trumpeter’s last two ECM recordings: the 2004 Enrico Rava Quintet album Easy Living and just released in October 2005, Tati, the lovely trio album with Rava and Paul Motian. Bollani’s solo debut for ECM will be released in the coming year.
From New York, Rava and Bollani will travel around the country for a duo tour performing music from Tati. Here are the dates:
April 4th – Chicago - Hot House
April 5th – Boston – Regattabar
April 7th – San Francisco – SF Jazz at the Herbst Theater
April 1st - Rava will appear in duo with Dada Moroni in Baltimore at An Die Musik
