Jah Mason’s latest is a shaky combination of dancehall and one drop, constantly trying to find the right tempo. His timbre and style is very similar to Capleton’s, but while Mason’s pace can be rushed, there are some promising tracks here, including “Mi Chalwa,” “See Them Running” and the acoustic “My Life.” Continually switching between militant high and low growling pitches a la Capleton, Mason needs to tighten up his flow and delivery. He blazes through “Couple Chalice A Day,” which rolls on a one drop theme, but fumbles over its chorus. Overall, the production is crisp with quality instrumentation and horns and Mason spreads conscious vibes in between his spirited weed anthems.
