Rounder

By Matthew S. Robinson

Published February 17, 2006

Using English, Hebrew and other musical languages (including the Spanish guitar and rhythms of "Chileno Boys," "Hips To Hips" and a slightly muffled live version of "Isadora") to tell his stories, singer/songwriter David Broza reaches for the heart by way of the ears and ends up soothing and rewarding both. Combining sounds and styles of artists and bands like Sting, Peter Mulvey, the Gipsy Kings and Go West, Broza offers the chilling creaks of "In Snow" and the Hebraic blues of "When I Didn’t Have Home." From the thoughtful tacit dedication of "A Night In Wyoming" and the rhythmic remembrance of "Second Street" to the bilingual beauty of "What Will You Do" and the touching title track, Broza delivers a collection of attractive and accessible melodies that can appeal to liturgical and pop fans alike.
